Sponsored Walk Last Day

Hi All

Well we did it. The last day was from Rugeley to Burton on Trent. It was meant to be 13 miles but it ended up being 16 miles!! I was sooo tired by the end. Dad and Paul kept on saying we were 'nearly there'

This picture was the start of the walk and the field behind us was what we spent most of the day crossing. Sometimes they had potatoes in, sometimes peas in, sometimes cows in.

Compared to the first two days which was walking along a disused railway and a canal this day was spent crossing fields and following the instructions was a nightmare.

Everytime we walked into another field the instructions were "walk along edge of the field until you get to a metal gate'. Unfortunately there wasnt usually a metal gate. My Dad said that was something to do with the fact that the walk was designed for the Millenium and we were the only people to have walked it since then!!

This was just before Dad and Gary had to bash a whole load of nettles so that we could find the path

This was me trying to find the path!

Anyway it took us 8 hours to walk the 16 miles and we eventually finished in Burton on Trent in the pouring down rain. We were all very sore but happy to have finished the walk

My Dad, Paul and Gary got very excited about the sign in Burton

Anyway it was really hard work and I had a sore back and legs by the time we had finished. Thank you to everybody who sponsored me. It is not too late to sponsor me on

Sponsored Walk Day 2

All

Struggled today. Got a sore back and sore legs so not been happy!!

We have walked 13 miles today from Asda in Stafford to a place call Mavesyn Ridware which is the far side of Rugeley (or Ruggerley as Charlotte calls it). I didnt take my phone with me today so there was not the same excitement as yesterday.

This is me, Amy and Emily setting off

Passed lots of barges going the other way

This was us on a bridge with a barge going underneath!

This is us on Tixall Aquaduct
We then got to Tixall Lock where we helped somebody on a barge open and close the locks

Mummy, Charlotte and Amany joined us at Shugborough and walked with us until the end
This is Charlotte at 'Ruggerley'

Going to bed now. Last day tomorrow from Mavesyn Ridware to Burton on Trent. Another 13 miles. I am NOT looking forward to it

First Day of Sponsored Walk

Hi All

Well I have finished the first day of the Sponsored Walk on The Way of the Millenium and it was quite an exciting one (not the words my Dad would have said!)

We set off at 08:00 and Amys Dad dropped us off just outside Newport. He then drove the car back to Stafford (which was our finishing point today) and was going to run back and meet us (He likes running!)

This is at the start of the walk. We then walked along an old disused railway for about 5 miles before we decided to have a break

Anyway when we were having our sandwiches I realised my phone wasnt in my bag! So then Paul, Amy and Emily carried on walking while me and my Dad had to start walking back the way we came!

This was me just before I realised I had lost my phone!

We walked for about 2 miles whilst Mum tried to locate my phone on her iphone. Luckily it worked and it turned out the phone was back the way we had come. So to cut a long story short it turned out that 3 men walking their dogs had picked it up and when we turned back we passed them and Dad asked whether they had picked up a phone and they had!!

So at this point we had now walked about 8 miles and then had to walk another 5 miles to get to Stafford to catch up with Paul, Emily and Amy. So instead of walking nearly 10 miles today I walked 13 miles!!

Tomorrow is another 13 miles (as long as I dont lose my phone) and we walk from Stafford to East of Rugeley.

I will update more tomorrow
